Baby Steps

I took a short stroll out to the porch. Checked out my husband's work in the front yard and on our porch. He planted some flowers and cleaned up the shrubs around the ramp. I have a clear path for walking with crutches. Baby steps!

Lead me in the path of your commandments, for I delight in it. Psalm 119:35 ESV

Bath and Wash

Guess who got a bath tonight? Not me. But I did get my hair washed. Thanks to my daughter, who washed my hair as I sat on a chair and leaned over the tub. She gave the dog a bath too. I wish my hair got curly when it was wet!

Taking Care of Me

Our younger daughter came home this weekend to help out. And keep me company while my husband goes back to work. I am feeling the love!

Put My Feet Up

I am taking it easy. Putting my feet up. Higher than my heart. Learning how to use crutches. I will see an orthopedic surgeon early next week. Family and friends are taking good care of me! What a crazy spring BREAK.

Down for the Count

Housework can be dangerous. Last week I cut my hand on the washing machine. Today I tripped on the way to do laundry. I don't ever fall. I might stumble, but I recover. But when I go down, I make it count. I sprained one ankle and fractured the other ankle. Seriously?! How is that possible?

Thanks to my husband for coming home early to help me hop to the car and drive me to get x-rays.

Until further notice I am off my left foot. I have crutches. I will see a specialist tomorrow to find out what's next. Meanwhile, my family is on their own for laundry.

Birthday Perspectives

What does my friend do on her birthday? She faithfully helps with the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement class, like she always does. Nice we could be together!

Happy birthday to my dear friend!

Three Years!

Guess who is three years old today?  We love our big, white fluffy member of the family!

Smooth Travels

I'm thankful my husband felt better this afternoon. He was able to drive our daughter back to Seattle, by way of the Bremerton ferry. We had smooth travels and time for dinner near Seattle Pacific University.

Rest and Recuperate

Just when you think the worst is over, sickness strikes again. My husband came home from work a couple days ago and went straight to bed. Thankfully his symptoms are mild. We trust this will be the last of it.

Just Like That

much transition from winter to spring. Hello, sweet little blossoms!

Good for Another 10 Years

I had an unfortunate fight with the washing machine. There is a plug to remove and drain the extra water in our front loader. I drained it all right. Into the garage. But the worst thing was the cut on my hand from the metal around the plug. No stitches needed; fancy tape will do. And a current tetanus shot for good measure.

Back to the Harbor

Nothing like being down and out for a while to appreciate being back in circulation! I enjoyed returning to Harbor Church today.

Bubble Tea Love

What a treat to have our daughter bring two friends home for a quick visit! Our dog enjoyed the attention from all of them, too.

Give a Dog a Bath

If you need to give a dog a bath, try the self-wash at your local Tractor Supply. My husband and I tried it out tonight. They provide the soap, towels, and a dryer. Ten bucks and a punch card to get the tenth one free.  Works great for our pup and us!

Beautiful Flowers to Come

I'm glad I stopped to check the progress. See how the hydrangea in front of the hospital are growing. I don't think I have noticed the bud stage before. Shows the promise of beautiful flowers to come!

Thought that Counts

The sports magazine in the free pile at the library is about March Madness, and it is March. My husband might enjoy reading that.

But I missed a minor detail. It was for LAST year. Oh well, file that under "It's the thought that counts."

Path to Recovery

I am not back to full strength. But I am coughing less and less. I am confident that I am on the path to recovery. It just takes time.

I am Here

It seems fitting that my internet was down last night and I couldn't post on my blog. I've been down and out with this flu bug for the last several days.

The good news is that I seem to be on the upswing. I will celebrate by taking a shower!

Time to Hibernate

I feel like a bear in hibernation. Wake me up when winter and this flu bug are over. I've been in bed the last couple days. My husband is taking good care of me and I think I am on the mend.

One More Blast

I looked out the window out of habit. Not expecting snow. But we had one more blast of snow. Creating dangerous driving conditions and confusion about whether school was in session or not. We had four inches and counting this morning, But by dinner time it is mostly gone. Crazy weather!

Another White Morning

I could not believe my eyes early this morning. More snow! Our area woke up to 3 to 5 inches of snow covering everything. Thankfully my husband and son were able to get to work. And by this afternoon it was mostly gone.

Enough Already

How long will it take for the snow to be all the way gone? These last piles take a while to melt away. But wait, there's more! It snowed today, but didn't stick. Thankfully.

Start with Leftovers

I don't enjoy cooking for one. So what should I have for lunch? I can take some of last night's roasted chicken and vegetables, add an egg and a little milk. Throw it in the oven. Frittata for the win.

Laughter is Good Medicine

I woke up with a headache, which happens regularly on Monday mornings after my shot on Sunday night. All I had was a travel size bottle of ibuprofen. I couldn't get past the child safety so my husband got out a hammer.

But when I bent down to retrieve the lid off the floor, I bumped my head on the wooden stool. Ouch! It didn't help my headache, but our laughter was healing.

Still on My List

I have a plan for shopping at thrift stores and rummage sales. Start with my list. Look for those one or two items first. Otherwise I will get distracted.

At yesterday's rummage sale I found my item, a lamp for for my husband's bedside table. One of the volunteers set it aside with my name on it. But when I went to pay, someone had taken it out of my box, paid for it, and left. Next time I will pay for that item and put it in my car if I have more shopping to do. The honor system doesn't work for everybody.

Happy Ending

It's fun to run into good friends at a rummage sale. We can shop and talk. My friend told me she found a cell phone in the parking lot and turned it in. I've never misplaced my phone outside our car or home.

But wait, where's my phone? It fell out of my purse on the way in to the sale. So thankful for my honest friend and a story with a happy ending!
