On Watch

At first I was annoyed. Does our dog have to bark at every child or cat that runs in front of our house? But then I was glad I looked out the window and saw the little girl slip on the ice. I dashed out and helped carry her home. Just a couple houses away. She is fine, just a little shaken up.

In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Acts 20:35 ESV

Life Group Tamale Love

Our Life Group doesn't always include dinner. But when we do, it's really tasty. Like tonight's homemade tamales, made with love. Topped off with homemade cream puffs, with choice of custard or whipped cream. What a feast!

Less Snow, More Driveway

I am not overly affected by the weather. I don't get gloomy when the sun is in short supply. However I noticed my spirits lift by the recent appearance of blue skies. And I am relieved to see more of our driveway.

But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. 1 Timothy 6:8 ESV

Start with a Hymn

I wish there was a way to capture what it is like at leaders' meeting for Bible Study Fellowship. Imagine sixty women sitting in a big circle singing a hymn. Then gathering in circles of three to five to kneel or sit and pray. There is a devotional with the doctrine of the week, time to go over the homework, and training. I am encouraged and challenged every week!

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 2 Timothy 3:16 ESV

Tropical Teamwork at Harbor Church

What theme should we have for our turn at snacks at Harbor Church? We've had enough snow, let's go tropical! I love how our group coordinates and works together.

Snowy Sculpture Love

I'm happy my husband is feeling better. After coming down with a miserable cold. A few days of rest, and he is good to go.

But as for me, I shall walk in my integrity;    redeem me, and be gracious to me. Psalm 26:11 ESV

Take What Comes

I was not excited to see more snow. Haven't we had enough already? There was a dusting this morning, then a flurry of snow. Followed by rain. There may be more snow in the forecast. We take what comes!

Best Medicine

What is the best medicine? Come home to recuperate from the flu. Drink plenty of fluids. Sleep in your own bed. With your faithful pup at your side. Worked for our daughter. Glad she is feeling better and back to school!

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Romans 12:12 ESV

Seattle Skyline at Sunset

Much to be thankful for this beautiful February day. Good to meet up with my Bible Study Fellowship ladies again, after a break for snow.

Safe travels to Seattle and back are always appreciated too.

Pictured: With thanks to my son driving, I could take this photo of the Seattle skyline.

Not Fancy

I kept hearing about people making cinnamon rolls over the snow break. People with electricity that is. So I finally made some for our family. Tried baking in my cast iron skillet. Not fancy, but works for us.

Going Nowhere

The main roads are clear and the snow is slowly melting. But my husband's truck is not going anywhere soon. We can take turns driving the car for now.

He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Psalm 23:3 ESV

Snowy View of our Neighborhood

Our neighbor captured a view of our neighborhood, snow and all. Our house is at the top of the photo

We didn't need anything while we were snowbound, but it was comforting to know we had people we could reach out to.

Do not forsake your friend and your father's friend, and do not go to your brother's house in the day of your calamity. Better is a neighbor who is near than a brother who is far away. Proverbs 27:10 ESV

Get Out of the House

What's a good cure for cabin fever? Go for a walk on the freshly plowed walkway outside our neighborhood. Works for my husband and our pup. It's too cold for me. But I did venture out to the grocery store.

Snow Much Fun

Look who doesn't get tired of the snow. Will chase snowballs even if she ends up with a mouth full of snow. Every single time. Works for her!

From your lofty abode you water the mountains;    the earth is satisfied with the fruit of your work. Psalm 104:13 ESV

Snow Valentine 2019

Flowers and nice dinners are fun. But I'll take the simple acts of kindness, day after day, year after year.  Like a cup of tea in the morning before I get out of bed. Works for me!

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35 ESV

On the Snow Mountain

My husband and our son did a work in our driveway. And helped two other neighbors clear paths from driveways to the plowed road. Hopefully we're on the other side of this epic snow blast.

And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” Luke 10:27 ESV

Cold Snap

But wait, there's more! As of Monday night, we had over 17 inches of snow! Not sure what the final numbers will be, but it's incredible.

Pictured: Took this photo of my husband taking a photo of our bird feeder.

He gives snow like wool;
    he scatters frost like ashes.
 He hurls down his crystals of ice like crumbs;
who can stand before his cold?
 He sends out his word, and melts them;
he makes his wind blow and the waters flow. Psalm 147:16-18 ESV

Snowed In

Not going anywhere today. The snow in the driveway is fresh since last night. With more coming down!

Living Water Church on Snow Day

Our church service was cancelled today, along with several other churches in the area. So I tuned in to a live broadcast from Living Water Church in Olympia. I enjoyed the living room session, with acoustic guitars, and a simple message from Luke 5.

But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish that they had taken, Luke 5:8-9 ESV

Snowy Neighborhood

Our car won't be leaving our driveway for a while. But my husband and dog can get out and explore the snowy neighborhood! We've had about four inches of snow, with more to come.

Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name. Psalm 86:11 ESV

And So It Begins

They are calling this Snowmageddon 2019. We will see how much snow we actually get and how long it lasts. I am hearing reports of stores being cleaned out and crazy parking lots. It's a good time to hunker down!

Pictured: Flakes started around 11 am today. The bird house is temporarily inside the bird feeder after it fell off the fence.

Wait and See

We are all wondering what the weather is going to do. Will there be inches and inches of snow? Should we cancel plans for the weekend? (Yes. Playing it safe.) Our pup just wonders when the next walk will happen.

Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! Psalm 27:14 ESV

Cold but Roads Clear

How many of us woke up early this morning to check the weather? It was cold, 17 degrees Fahrenheit here, but the roads were clear. Yay, the Olympia women's Bible Study Fellowship is on! Half of my ladies were able to come and we had a good discussion.

And now, O Lord GOD, you are God, and your words are true, and you have promised this good thing to your servant. Now therefore may it please you to bless the house of your servant, so that it may continue forever before you. For you, O Lord GOD, have spoken, and with your blessing shall the house of your servant be blessed forever." 2 Samuel 7:28-29 ESV

Weather Challenges

When there are weather and equipment challenges, you adjust. Like this week's Bible Study Fellowship training. The leaders did not meet because of the snow and ice. So the leaders who could, did online meetings. I was able to listen but had to mute my side of things because a certain canine didn't get the memo to be quiet. We made it work!

"For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:10-11 ESV

First Snow 2019

Guess who is excited about snow? Our pup loves to run, play, and eat the white stuff.

"Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. Isaiah 1:18 ESV

Harbor Super Bowl 2019

It was a good day to be at Harbor Church. Powerful sermon on the Good Samaritan. Snacks between services. And a photo booth in honor of Super Bowl Sunday. Love our church!

Early Breakfast Love

If you have a busy day ahead of you, get breakfast early. Works for my mother-in-law, my husband and me!

"Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Matthew 6:25 ESV

Cleaned Up Nicely

Look who cleaned up nicely! Our pup was overdue. I love our new groomer and the job she does. And I think Daisy enjoys the attention.
