Laundry Dog

I wasn't surprised to find our dog on the sofa. It's one of her favorite spots. But I was surprised she didn't disrupt any of my folded laundry. Good girl!

Now out of the ground the LORD God had formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name. Genesis 2:19 ESV

G is for Graduate

I love this photo of our daughter. I appreciate how she worked hard on preparation, setup and cleanup at her own graduation party.

How to Cook for a Crowd

Back when I was planning the graduation party, I had a brainstorm. The big roaster we use at Thanksgiving and Christmas is a giant slow cooker. Perfect for a big batch of pulled pork! Worked great!

White Car Day

My mom and I had a good trip to Olympia. Got the doctor's appointment out of the way. Had time for a little shopping and lunch. Glad I could go with her and be her driver today!

Pictured: I parked my mom's car but wasn't sure if I left the lights on. We walked back to the car and checked. Only, it wasn't my mom's car! Just an identical one, a couple spots away. Her lights weren't on either.

Kids Ministry Love

One of the things I love about our church is the focus on kids' ministry. And we do have a lot of little kids!

No Need to Panic

It doesn't work to switch up the routine. I went to church in the evening for a meeting and parked in a different spot. So when I came out to my usual parking lot, it was empty. What happened to my car?! Then I remembered. Note to self: stick with the familiar.

Pictured: Empty parking lot in front of me. My car was in the lot to the right.

Life Group Baptism Love

I don't always attend both services. But if you serve in the first and your friend is getting baptized in the second service, that's what you do. So happy to see our friend from Life Group get baptized this morning.

One Last Photo, Please

I want to capture more family moments. Instead of "one last photo before you leave." Somewhere there is a balance between being in the moment and taking photos to enjoy later.

Pictured: Glad I got one photo of our daughter's boyfriend while he was here for the graduation weekend.

Successful Journey

I was thankful for each successful step of the journey. Drove to Seattle with no major slowdowns. Had a good meeting with an advisor at Seattle Pacific University to get our daughter registered for classes. Navigated downtown traffic and construction to get to the ferry. Got to relax on the boat before the drive home from Bremerton. It was a great day!

Bird Report

I was hoping to report that I saw baby wrens come out of the bird house. But I have seen lots of activity in and around the nest. The parent birds come and go. All day long. Bring food. And then there is lots of chirping. Those parents are busy! It's been fun to witness.

Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! Luke 12:24 ESV

Best Cake Ever

Our daughter made a fancy cake for the graduation party. Have you heard of the Milk Bar Bakery?  This is their Birthday Cake. This has to be one of the best cakes I have ever tried.

Room to Park

We never know how many people will come to our open house events. We make our best estimate and prepare. We had around 75 people for our daughter's graduation celebration. It always seems to work out just right.

Sister Graduation Love

It makes my heart happy to see our daughters together. It was a fun weekend with our older daughter home. She graciously pitched in at the graduation party.

Thanks for the steady supply of fresh-baked cookies, hot coffee, and amazing cake (sorry, not all the guests were there when it was unveiled)!

Father's Day Weekend 2018

We had lots to celebrate this weekend! Graduation and Father's Day. I missed my dad this weekend, as we had the graduation party at my parents' lakefront home. But I am thankful for the many rich memories over the years and that he went quickly at the end. No more suffering and pain.

As our youngest daughter graduates this weekend, I think about how blessed our family is to have my husband as their dad. They have always known the security of being loved and valued.

Happy Father's Day to my husband!

Congrats Party Love

We had a great open house event today. Celebrated our youngest daughter's graduation. Enjoyed good food and conversation in a beautiful setting. Friends and family chipped in to help with food and set-up. It was a blessing how it all came together.

Blue Grad Love

We had a good view of the processional. And saw our daughter walk by in a wave of blue. One of 1500 students to graduate tonight.

So proud of our South Puget Sound Community College graduate!

Last Day of High School

And just like that, we're done. No more high school classes for our daughter. She's all set to graduate with her high school diploma and her associates degree this week. We are so proud of her!

Hat Lady Love

One day I had ribbon trailing from my shopping cart at the Goodwill Outlet. Which led to a discussion with a fellow shopper.  She makes hats and is always looking for ribbon. I let her buy my ribbon find. I saw her this week and happened to have some ribbon in my cart. I was happy to share.

Fond Memories

I miss those chance meetings. Running in to my parents at various times and places. I'm glad I can still go visit my mom when I want! And we have years of memories to look back on.

Class of 2018 Graduation

It's been nine years since we had a high school graduate. If our younger daughter was at the local high school, she would have graduated today. Her graduation from the community college is next week.

It was great to see her friends receive their diplomas today. And her best friend give a valedictorian speech.

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6 ESV

Left the Salsa

I grabbed the wrong container out of our fridge. So I showed up at Life Group with leftover soup instead of homemade salsa. At least I had the hummus I made from dried beans. No worries, my friend brought salsa. It all worked out.

8 Arms Community Bakery Cookie Love

We voted today! My daughter and I visited the 8 Arms Community Bakery in Tumwater and voted for our favorite cookies. We'll have to check back and see if our favorites won.

Too bad we haven't polished up our chocolate chip cookie recipes.  They are taking entries for a contest on June 8 and June 9.

We had a full house for Life Group tonight. Nice to have a few guests to enjoy our appetizers and Dispatches from the Front DVD.

We love our group and enjoy spending time together.

Hide-and-Seek

Our dog loves to play games in the backyard. Hide-and-seek is one of her favorites. We take turns hiding and letting her find us. Fun for all of us.

Burst into Pink

Every day there is something new. Something to notice and appreciate while it is here. Like the peonies that burst into pink in our backyard.

And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, Matthew 6:27-28 ESV

Goji Berry Love

My friend gave us a Goji berry plant for our backyard. My husband found a spot just right with a place to climb. Now we wait for the berries!

Neighborhood Sale Love

I enjoy neighborhood garage sales when I have a chance. Fun to walk around, talk to interesting people, and maybe find a few bargains. My personal favorite: boxes of free items to peruse.

Unit Price Love

Sometimes I shop by the pound. But other times I go with unit pricing. Like the cauliflower I bought this week. Priced at $2.49 each. I weighed one on my scale and it was over 4 pounds. Works for me!
