Jackpot Pepper Love

My son knows what makes me happy. Bring home two bags of peppers from the grocery store bargain bin. We call that a jackpot.

Pictured: Beautiful red, yellow and orange pepper. Perfect for snacking, roasting, and more!

Beading Station

I pulled out my fancy tray. (A storage bin lid.) And set up a beading station. I want to make a bookmark for a friend's birthday. I can jump in with a small project.

Collect and Organize

I need to collect the recipes I have tried. Make a note of what works. I have slowed on the magazine tear-outs and handwritten pages. Instead I have screen-shots on my phone. Many. Just another organizing project I need to do.

Life Group Buddies

I don't want to take a lot of photos when people are trying to eat. But I also want to record memories. Like my husband and good friend at Life Group last week.

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 ESV

Weather Watch

We've been watching out the window all day. Tracking the wind conditions. Wondering if our lights will stay on. Many areas of our town were out of power, but thankfully ours stayed on.

Space to Work

I want to find a place to spread out and work. I am anxious to make more bead bookmarks. Gives me motivation to deal with my piles of stuff!

Homemade Tortilla Love

Our Life Group knows how to break bread together. Or in our case, homemade tortillas with all the fixings.

My Two Moms

What a wonderful surprise! I know that car in the parking lot. Glad I could have lunch with my mom and my other mom* who is in town today. (*My mom during college.)

Roll the Dice

We have a new (to us) family game. When we have a little down time. All you need is six dice, paper and a writing instrument. You can find the rules for Farkle online. Or in a set from the dollar store, like I did.

Sweet Reunion

I have missed seeing my dear friends. But today they stopped by my office. Just kidding about the office. I was drinking coffee and working on my Bible study lesson in Olympia. It was good to catch up. And pray together.

Church Baby Love

Good for Them

My guys are so faithful. They go for walks every day. Good for the dog. And good for them.

Signs of Life

I wasn't expecting buds so soon. But we are still in January and we have signs of life. Can't wait to see what it looks like in the spring.

Memories of Dad

I appreciate my sister's work scanning old photos. What a treasure!

I love this photo of my dad and his ventriloquist doll, Hong Kong Harry.
Update: This was actually Taiwan Tommy. Got my dummies confused.

Lasting Legacy

Today would have been my dad's 79th birthday. I thank God for the father I had and the time we had with him. We miss him dearly.

Pictured: My mom shared a photo of my Dad's Bible with his notes, a lasting legacy.

Taco Tuesday Love

Maybe we should start a tradition. Have Taco Tuesdays. Like tonight's pork tacos with homemade salsa. And tangy cabbage salad, made with organic cabbage of course.

Decisions Ahead

Decisions, decisions! Our youngest is applying to colleges and thinking about what's next. I know she will be ready. Not sure about me.

Break in the Rain

It was nice to have a break in the rain today. Perfect for a play date with our neighbor's dog.

Perspectives Alumni

When I went to the preview event this summer, I didn't know what I was in for. But now I am a Perspectives on the World Christian Movement graduate! I learned a lot in the 15 weeks. I hope my husband can take the class the next time it is offered in our area.

Game Show Help

If you follow my blog closely, you might have known the answer to a Jeopardy question last week. What does the V stand for in VB6 by Mark Bittman? Vegan!

I'm not vegan, but I want to add more healthy recipes to my repertoire. If nothing else, the tangy cabbage salad recipe is a winner.

Right Where I Left it

I was off my game this morning. First, I dropped my bowl of oatmeal and granola and broke the bowl. Then I got to Olympia and realized I had my BSF bag but not my purse. Which means no ID or money. But there was nothing I had to buy.

All's well that ends well. And I will pay more attention in the mornings!

Pictured: Thankfully my purse was hanging right where I left it.

Container Update

It seemed like a good idea at the time. Mark the repurposed containers with duct tape. But the tape wears off. Plus I had too many random containers and lids.

So I ditched them all. I'm going with glass jars and a set of Rubbermaid®. Works much better.

Christmas Stocking Love

It's tradition. And I like filling the stockings for each member of the family. By the time Christmas Eve rolls around, I don't have time to individually wrap the little gifts I've collected. Maybe next year.

Another Favorite from 2017

I wanted another photo of all the cousins. But didn't know it would happen at my dad's memorial service last summer. Bittersweet.

Glad We Could Go

Some friends from my Perspectives class went on a tour of a local mosque today. It was interesting to observe their service and learn more about our Muslim neighbors. They were very welcoming and friendly. Glad we could go.

A Year in the Book of Proverbs

We have a new daily devotional, given to us by our friends. We love Timothy and Kathy Keller's book, God's Wisdom for Navigating Life. This book is based on the book of Proverbs. Their previous devotional was from the book of Psalms. I might have to read one in the morning, and one at night.

Day by Day

I don't do resolutions any more. But I did pick a theme for 2018. I chose the word RENEWED. I want to have an eternal perspective.

Pictured: Almost can't recognize this hydrangea in winter.

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 ESV

Start the Year

It's good to start the day with breakfast. And good to start the year with breakfast and coffee with my husband and mother-in-law!

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever! Psalm 111:10 ESV
