Raindrops on Roses

I continue to enjoy the roses in our front yard. They keep blooming, year after year. Nice spot of color.

Pictured: Raindrops on roses the other morning.

Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! Luke 12:27-28 ESV

Time to Play

I'm not sure why we stopped. We don't play card or other games much any more. I say, it's time to play!

a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;  Ecclesiastes 3:6 ESV

Pictured: Back in 2013. But that's not the last time we played! With my brother-in-law, sister-in-law, my mother-in-law, and some of our kids.

Sunday Weather

What a difference a week makes. Last Sunday it was overcast. Today is blazing hot.

Pictured: Glad we went to the Tacoma waterfront last Sunday. The weather was perfect for walking around.

This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 ESV

Saturday Breakfast Love

I like going out for breakfast and getting exactly what I want. A bowl of hot oatmeal with fresh fruit and nuts, thank you.

Others in our group had today's pancakes and eggs. Insider tip: you can custom order how you want your eggs. The hash browns are always good, too.

Duct Tape Love

My simple leftover labeling system with masking tape is working great. But what if I want to repurpose empty yogurt containers? A little duct tape makes it obvious that something else resides within. Just label contents on lid.Works for me! And the family.

Drip Espresso Love

You know how I like open houses and door prizes. And free food. My son and I stopped by the Drip Espresso Bar in downtown Olympia for their second anniversary. Treated ourselves to $2 lattes and free pastry samples.

Pictured: Wish they drew one of our names for the coffee basket and other prizes on the table!

Three Sisters and a Boy

I found some buried treasure in a box of photos. Including this one featuring three sisters. And my younger son. Must have been Christmas time over twenty years ago.

Pictured: I am on the left. My youngest sister is in the middle. My younger sister is on the right.

So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 ESV

Stop and Smile

I am thankful that our daughter doesn't mind stopping and taking a photo with her dad. Good times on Father's Day in Tacoma.

Let all that you do be done in love. 1 Corinthians 16:14 ESV

Rubber Ducky Father's Day Love

We heard the rubber ducky at the Tacoma waterfront was big. So we drove to see it Sunday afternoon. Our younger son met us there. And that's how you make a memory on Father's Day!

Pictured: Yes, that is a huge Ducky! Six stories tall.

Happy Father's Day to my Dad!

One of the things I appreciate about my dad is how much he enjoys the simple things. Like family and faith. He liked my special box of Cheerios today.

Happy Father's Day to my Daddio!

We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might, and the wonders that he has done. Psalm 78:4 ESV

Prepare for Senior Year

Our daughter made it through her first year of community college and her junior year of high school. We are so proud of all her hard work. Now I need to mentally prepare myself for having a senior in high school!

Great Grandma's Birthday

You know what makes my Gramma smile? Having the family around. Especially the little children. Like my sister's five girls who came for a visit last month.

We all wish my Gramma a happy 95th birthday today. From near and far.

She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Proverbs 31:27-28 ESV

With My Phone

It took me three trips to get my daughter's paperwork signed and picked up from the local high school. Then I tucked it in my daughter's bag so she could take it to the community college. But it fell out.

Good thing I snapped a photo of the document with my phone. Just in case we needed to refer to it. The college can accept a fax or photo. Fall enrollment done!

Strawberry Shortcake Love

Let strawberry season begin. First berries from local Spooner farms on the menu. As I made biscuits tonight, I thought of my father-in-law. He sure loved strawberry shortcake! Good memories.

Rock Hound

My husband is trying to create a dog-friendly backyard. With landscaping our puppy can't destroy or chew up. So far, so good.

Front Yard 2013 and 2017

My husband and I have an arrangement. He loves to work in the yard. And I love to watch him work. I appreciate his improvements to our place!

Pictured: Front yard in June 2013 and June 2017. The first picture was taken in the dark. Can you find the frog in both photos?

Take Comfort

Sometimes I focus on my undones. The need for improvements. But I take comfort in God's promise to do His work in me and complete it.

Congrats Class of 2017!

There were several from our Loop that graduated today. Including my good friends' son, who was one of three valedictorians. Great speech, Jimmy!

The Lucky Few: Finding God's Best in the Most Unlikely Places

I didn't expect to be so drawn in. Once I started the book, The Lucky Few: Finding God's Best in the Most Unlikely Places by Heather Avis, I read it straight through in a couple days. I was inspired by a woman's journey through infertility and then adopting three children, including two with Down syndrome. It was a story of learning to trust God and letting Him write the perfect story.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. James 1:17 ESV

Life Imitates Art

I let my son borrow my jacket. So he could recreate the pose in the painting at the Bloedel Reserve. This is a portrait of Prentice Bloedel, who created the amazing gardens at Bloedel Reserve, and lived in this home.

Pictured: From our trip to Bainbridge Island on Memorial Day.

And God said, "Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth." And it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:11-12 ESV

Life Group Birthday Love

We don't always have a meal at our Life Group Bible study. But when we are celebrating an upcoming birthday, we try to make it special. Like tonight.

Happy birthday to our good friend, Celia!

Real Moments

I like how our son records real moments. Not staged at all. Like this photo from our time at Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually Wildlife Refuge.

Snacks at Harbor Church

I like how our Life Group works as a team. We put together another tasty selection of snacks after both church services today. With fruit, homemade baked goods, Oreos, fruit snacks, and gluten-free bread and jam. Something for everyone.

Designated Truck Driver

Just call me the designated truck driver. My neighbor needed two loads of mushroom compost and one load of sand. My husband had other projects to do, so I drove to the landscape supply place. My neighbor and his hard-working mom did all the unloading.

Then a friend needed to borrow our truck so he could run to the landfill. I drove to their house and swapped vehicles. Glad I could help.

And he answered them, "Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise." Luke 3:11 ESV

Sugar Stop Sandwich Love

It's fun to try new things on the menu. With my mother-in-law. We split a loaded turkey sandwich on artisan bread at Sugar Stop Cake Shop today. It was great!

My Simple Map

I made sure to unplug and remove the battery before attempting repair. I wanted to see if I could adjust my laptop charging port. One of the articles suggested carefully saving the screws. So I made my own simple map. I was able to fix the port and replace the screws. Feels good to DIY.

Pictured: What happens when you trip on the charging cord and my simple map for replacing the screws.
