Day Trip Beach Love

It was the perfect day to be at the beach. Not too hot, not too cold. Glad we could get away this weekend for a day trip.

Happy Birthday Linda!

Happy birthday to my good friend and mother-in-law!

It's bitter-sweet to be celebrating without my father-in-law. But we trust God to provide comfort each day. Especially today.

Pictured: My mother-in-law and three of her five children, two years ago.

Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Psalm 90:14 ESV

Bloedel Reserve Bench Love

My husband and daughter loved the Bloedel Reserve so much, they took me there today. Our younger son met us on the way. And our older daughter stopped by on her lunch break.

I am thankful my health is stable so I am able to walk and enjoy days like today.

Pictured: Thanks to our son for capturing this moment on a park bench.

A Community on Mission

Another basic sermon. Asking key questions. What is our mission and purpose? What is our manner of life to fulfill our purpose and mission?

Thank you, Pastor Seth Winterhalter for faithfully preaching and teaching at Harbor Church!

You can listen here: http://bit.ly/2rvcGW1

And Manoah said, "Now when your words come true, what is to be the child's manner of life, and what is his mission?" Judges 13:12 ESV

Deconstruct for Fun

I like to deconstruct for fun and relaxation. Like some strings of glass beads from the Goodwill Outlet. They were part of a chandelier in a former life. I will use the beads when I start making bead bookmarks again.

Pictured: Just a few of the glass beads from the strands I took apart. I like how the colored thread is revealed in the glass bead.

Early Birthday Barbecue

Happy early birthday to my mother-in-law! Let's have a hamburger barbecue. With berry shortcake for dessert.

But instead of heating up the oven to bake biscuits, my husband cooked them on the barbecue in a cast iron skillet. Might be a new family favorite!

Pictured: Our freshly groomed puppy jumped right up on the recliner to join my mother-in-law.

And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. Colossians 3:14 ESV

Porch Herb Garden Love

Introducing my new herb garden! On the front porch. Out of the way of the puppy in the backyard. Works for me!

Privilege to Pray

I appreciate our life group's commitment to prayer. When people say they will pray, they do. It is a privilege to take concerns before our Heavenly Father and trust Him to listen and answer as He sees best.

And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. Acts 2:42 ESV

Mom on Campus

Another successful class registration completed for our daughter. She is all set for fall quarter. I need to get used to the idea that our baby will be a senior in high school in a couple months!

Pictured: Can you find me in this photo taken on the South Puget Sound Community College campus last week?

Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! Psalm 118:29 ESV

Just Look Up

Just look up. Admire the beautiful clouds. Be reminded of  God's majesty. With thanks to the photographer, who was a passenger in my car, on the way to school.

Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, your
faithfulness to the clouds.Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your judgments are like the great deep; man and beast you save, O LORD. How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. Psalm 36:5-7 ESV

Bloedel Reserve Love

It's good to get away for a day. Like my husband and our daughter did yesterday. They visited the beautiful Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island and a beach nearby. I'm glad they got to
Storyville Coffee Roasting Studio before closing. So they could bring me a chocolate chunk cookie!

Faithful Sidekick

My mother-in-law has a faithful companion in her new dog. He is the perfect mix of protective and attentive. And adorable!

Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." Genesis 1:26 ESV

Rock Haul

My husband loves working in the yard. And I love watching him work. I can't wait to see what he does with the load of rocks we scored for free.

Personality Runs in the Family

I see my baby sister in her five girls. Especially her youngest. So full of life and energy. With lots of personality. Just how I remember my sister when we were growing up. She will always be my baby sister and be very dear to me. No matter how old we get.

Happy Birthday to my sister today!

Pictured: My sister gave me permission to share this photo of my youngest niece, taken  the other day.

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. Psalm 103:2-5 ESV

I am thankful for the good education our children have received at South Puget Sound Community College. We have three graduates, with one more well on her way.

Rhododendron Love

I love rhodies. They remind me of the beautiful lake-front properties where my grandma and my parents live. My late grandfather loved the beauty all around them.

And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Matthew 6:27-30 ESV

Love my Four

Blessed to be with three of our four children on Sunday. And talk to our son on the phone.

Happy Mother's Day to me!

Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Psalm 127:3 ESV

Mother's Day 2017

I am thankful for my mother and mother-in-law, who have loved me well and set a good example. Along with the other women who have invested in my life.

Pictured: Lunch with my mother-in-law and two daughters today. Not pictured: My son, husband, and daughter's boyfriend.

Good-bye Casey

It's never easy to say good-bye. Our friend was way too young. Casey was one day short of turning 58. He left behind a wife and two sons. And a whole town full of family and friends who loved him.

I'm thankful for the assurance we have that his citizenship, and mine, is in heaven.

Pictured: The church was packed and standing room only.

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself. Philippians 3:20-21 ESV

Early Mother's Day

It's not too early to celebrate Mother's Day. My daughter and I had a short visit with my mom and my grandma, who lives next door to my parents. I am blessed to have a legacy of godly women in my life!

Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates. Proverbs 31:30-31 ESV

Dessert Pizza Love

In the name of research, we tried one of the dessert pizzas at our favorite local bakery. The artisan crust was topped with cinnamon and sugar, tons of berries and peaches, cream cheese, and toasted almonds. Delicious! Perfect with coffee.

Team Mowing

My son and husband teamed up. They got a lot of mowing done at my grandma's lake front property and at my parents' home. Looks great!

Finger Food Love

In the spirit of thinking about heaven and the feasts that await us, we had a feast at our Life Group this week. A feast of finger foods. Yum! Works for us.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Psalm 23:5 ESV

Watch Him Mow

Our puppy had fun watching the yard guy out the window. Nice to have some dry weather so my husband can mow and work outside.

"Distorted Heaven"

What is your picture of heaven? I appreciated today's sermon about Jesus' words in John 14.
You can listen here:

http://bit.ly/intolerance3

"Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. John 14:1-3 ESV

Like Each Other

I like to joke when we are taking pictures. "Pretend you like each other."  Helps to coax some smiles. The best part is that we really do like each other!

Hide from Thunder

We didn't get the brunt of the storm that passed through our area. But we did get thunder, lightning, and pounding rain. Glad it wasn't any worse.

Pictured: Our puppy took cover close to us all night.

And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, "Save us, Lord; we are perishing." And he said to them, "Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?" Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. Matthew 8:24-26 ESV

Orca Watch

My daughter and I hoped to see the orca whales who have been in the area. We stopped by Walker Park in Shelton and joined the people with binoculars and cameras. We had to leave without seeing any. But it was worth a try!

Fun to Chew and Chase

It's good to find a few toys that can hold up. This tire toy is a winner! Fun to chew and chase when we throw it for her.
