Little Doll

It was fun to see my sister and her five girls this weekend. They made an impromptu trip to visit our parents, grandma, and other relatives up here.

Breakfast Dates

Some couples have date nights. We have breakfast dates. Just a quick drive to the Basement Bistro at our local hospital. Good food for a low price. A chance to talk and catch up. Works for us!

Friday Night with Harbor Women

Another great Friday night with the ladies. I appreciate the Women's Ministry events at Harbor Church.

Especially blessed to hear from tonight's speaker about the seasons of life. Jan and I have been friends for many seasons in our friendship spanning 25 years.

Lunch with Family

It was great to have my older daughter surprise me by showing up at the MS Walk. Here is a photo of our lunch after the walk.

Dinner Gets Done

I need to work while I can. Get the pork roast in the slow cooker in the morning. Prep the cabbage salad before my nap. That's how dinner gets done!

Pictured: Previous batch of cabbage salad. Used the same Mark Bittman recipe today for great results.

Pray on the Spot

I love how my friends at Harbor Church offer to pray for me. And are willing to stop and pray with me. On the spot.

Cherish the Ladies Concert

We had some amazing musical talent in our small town tonight. I thoroughly enjoyed the Irish music group, Cherish the Ladies. With thanks to my mother-in-law who shared one of her tickets with me.

Ollie Love

My mother-in-law has a sweet new housemate.  His owner moved away and couldn't keep him. He is a five-year-old Pomeranian-Bichon mix. He seems to be the perfect dog for her.

Welcome to the family, Ollie!

Perfect Book for This Season

This has been the perfect book for this season in my life. Growing Kingdom Character by Tom Yeakley was promoted as being for leadership development. But the character development has strengthened my faith. I like the content in the chapters, followed by lots of verses to look up. Plus I have my cohort of three women, who have become good friends.

Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again. 2 Corinthians 1:9-10 ESV

Chocolate Macaroon Love

How many people does it take to pipe macaroons? It took four this weekend. I started the recipe and had trouble with the ground almonds clogging my piping tip. My husband went to the store for ingredients for a second batch. (Almond meal works great!)

My younger daughter drew a template to place under the parchment paper. My older daughter stopped by and showed us how to pipe the dough, then tap the cookie sheet to get them level. And that's how you get chewy, tasty gluten-free treats to take to church on Easter Sunday.

Made it Through

Our daughter made it through her second week of spring quarter. Despite being sick and tired. She just keeps going. We are so proud of her!

Hope for Life After Death

I'm glad we know the rest of the story. If we stopped reading the gospels at the cross, all would be lost. Thank you, Jesus, for dying on the cross. And not staying there. Gives us hope for life after death.

Pictured: Flowers at my father-in-law's memorial service. We grieve his loss, but know we will see him again in heaven.

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 ESV

Worth Three Quarters

At first I made things worse. The wimpy vacuum at the car wash introduced new dirt into my car! So I drove to the oil change place formerly known as Oil Can Henry's, now Valvoline, across the street. Now that was three quarters well spent!

Hint to Shelton friends, park outside the oil change place, on the other side of the vacuums.

If the iron is blunt, and one does not sharpen the edge, he must use more strength, but wisdom helps one to succeed. Ecclesiastes 10:10 ESV

VIP Treatment at the Thrift Store

I had fun playing the games and shopping with a discount. Thanks to my young friend who gave me a "friends and family" pass for the Goodwill event. I even went in the break room for a cookie and water. I call that VIP treatment.

Thank you to all the friends and family that showed up to vote! My father-in-law won the People's Choice award at the art show! It's a great way to honor his legacy of watercolor.

Walk MS: Olympia 2017

My team was ready to walk, rain or shine. But the skies cleared up and it was beautiful! It was an honor and privilege to participate in the Walk MS: Olympia 2017.

With thanks to our friends and family that made donations to a good cause.

Happy 75th to My Mom!

I didn't get to wish her a happy birthday in person, but I was thinking about my mom all day. She was home with my dad, and I was in Olympia doing the MS Walk.

My mom has always been one of my biggest cheerleaders and role models, right alongside my dad. I have never doubted her love and support. Not everyone has that. Happy 75th birthday, Mom!

Blooming Plum Tree

I remember how we had two trees in the front yard. Our neighbor who has mad landscaper skills suggested we move one tree to the backyard. Give the one in the front room to develop and flourish. Love our beautiful blooming plum tree!

http://widemargins.blogspot.com/2010/03/now-you-see-it.html

Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. Habakkuk 3:17-18 ESV

Our Stronghold

Everyone you know has some challenges or difficulties in life, whether spoken or unspoken. But not everyone has faith, family, and friends to lean on when going through hard times. Some day we can share how God has brought us through this chapter. Til then, we take refuge in our Stronghold.

Hold On

Some days there are more questions than answers. Or is that every day? But I hold on to God's Word. For dear life.

Pictured: Plum blossom in our front yard.

But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. "The LORD is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I will hope in him." The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD. Lamentations 3:21-26 ESV

Seaview Village Painting Love

Local friends, stop by the Civic Center in downtown Shelton and check out the art show! Going on all week during the day, 9 am to 5 pm. My late father-in-law has two paintings on display. He didn't win any ribbons, but you can vote for the people's choice award.

Returned Two Years Ago

Two years ago my older daughter was the designated chauffeur for a trip to the airport. To pick up a very special arrival. My husband was returning from the trip of a lifetime to Malawi and Mozambique.

It's time for me to renew my passport and start saving money so we can go there together. See what he saw. Meet his African brothers in Christ. And my husband's college roommate and wife who sold their home in Oregon and moved to Malawi.

There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. Ephesians 4:4-6 ESV

Welcome Back, Neighbor!

We go back a long ways. We built our homes together. Raised our families side by side. Been through illness and surgeries, with lots of good memories and shared meals along the way. They moved out of the loop, but came back to visit today. Welcome back, beloved neighbor and friend!
