Guinea Pig Love

I didn't know I would enjoy our pet guinea pig so much. They are great pets for older children. And moms. It's fun to watch her munch on cucumber peels or cilantro stems. Hard to believe she is almost five!

Africa Team Reunion

My husband traveled to Eugene, Oregon for a missions conference with his college roommate.  And my husband's new friends from his trip to Malawi and Mozambique, Africa last year. Including his "African brother," Pastor Albino from Mozambique.

Three Senior Coffees, Please

We changed the routine today. My parents and I went to a different Wendy's for coffee and food. The medical appointments went well. My mom's retina is healing and she has gained some vision back in her eye.

He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Psalm 23:3 ESV

Shipwreck Bead Love

I love learning new things. Trying new places. It's even better when you go with a friend. Like Shipwreck Beads. I will have to go back when I have more time. And I will keep checking their website every Friday in hopes of winning a $100 gift certificate.

Pancake Brunch Love

I have been looking forward to today all week. My friend from BSF offered to get together while my daughter was in class. She fixed a wonderful brunch for us.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14 ESV

Coffee Postponed

No coffee stops today. Just the grocery store after my dad's appointment. But we will probably make a stop between appointments later this week.

My Driver

I appreciate having a driver on Monday nights. I could do it myself, but my husband offered to take me to Bible Study Fellowship. So he hurries home from work, and away we go!

Rooted and Built Up

I like how Pastor Seth Winterhalter takes the verses apart and explains step by step. Another great sermon from Colossians today.

Golden Locks

Where did the curly golden locks go? After that first haircut, it came back straight. It was beautiful then, and beautiful now.

Cardigan Love

Just what my dad needed. Some new cardigans. We had good success on our quick shopping trip between medical appointments yesterday.

To Olympia and Back

Two more appointments done. And coffee, of course. I had a little trouble finding my car in the grocery store parking lot. Because I wasn't driving my car. But I found my parents' car, with my dad listening to the radio, right where I left it.

For you are my rock and my fortress; and for your name's sake you lead me and guide me; Psalm 31:3 ESV

Valentine's Balloons

I felt a little chintzy standing in line with only three balloons. I saw others with dozens of the one-dollar balloons. But I knew our daughter would appreciate a few simple Valentine's Day gifts. She is very practical and content. Good qualities. Love that girl!

Pictured: Our daughter with one of her Valentine's balloons

But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. 1 Timothy 6:6-8 ESV

One Down, Two to Go

We should put a reserved sign on the table. It's our regular stop in Olympia after medical appointments. Today's consultation went well for my dad. Two more for my parents this week.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. James 1:5 ESV

Handful of Beads

I love it when friends and family know what I like. Like a handful of beads recently. Perfect for when I make bead bookmarks.

A Firm Foundation

Today was Pastor Seth Winterhalter's 17th sermon in the book of Colossians. I like how his sermons always point to Jesus. Who is our firm foundation.

I say this in order that no one may delude you with plausible arguments. For though I am absent in body, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the firmness of your faith in Christ. Colossians 2:4-5 ESV

Valentine's Dinner Love

Our daughter encouraged us to get out. Have dinner. Go on a date! Here's to Valentine's Day 2016, one day early!

Pictured: Dinner date at El Guadajara in Shelton.

Enjoy life with the wife whom you love, all the days of your vain life that he has given you under the sun, because that is your portion in life and in your toil at which you toil under the sun. Ecclesiastes 9:9 ESV

Same Place

There is nothing wrong with routine. My parents enjoy getting a quick bite at the same place every time. I just wish we could go out for coffee without the doctor's visits and hospital stays preceding.

Pictured: Yesterday's stop after my mom's doctor's appointment.

Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. James 5:16 ESV

Eye Clinic Love

Don't mind if we do. Enjoy a cup of coffee and cookies. Celebrate the anniversary of my mom's eye clinic. And maybe even win a drawing for a free iPad touch!

I appreciate the great care my mom has received at Claris.

The eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you," nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you." On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 1 Corinthians 12:21-22 ESV

Missing Them

It's only been a couple weeks. But it feels like my in-laws have been gone a long time. I miss having coffee with them. Watching football together. There's always next season.

And before I know it, the snow birds will be back.

Another Appointment

Another day, another doctor's appointment for my mom. And one more cup of senior coffee at Wendy's! Times three. Works for us.

But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV

The Struggle is Real

Another great sermon from Pastor Seth Winterhalter. Starting off with humorous examples of how the struggle is real, and ending with solid teaching from Colossians.

https://soundcloud.com/harborchurch/colossians16

I love sermon series that go through books of the Bible.

For I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you and for those at Laodicea and for all who have not seen me face to face, that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God's mystery, which is Christ, Colossians 2:1-2 ESV

Back in Business

I almost gave up on them. But our three "ladies" are laying again. About one a day. I forgot how nice fresh eggs are!

Forgotten Attempts

I am not crafty or a seamstress. I appreciate my friends and family who have those skills. But I have made attempts. I forgot that I sewed a pillow for my parents' thirtieth anniversary. Until I saw it at my parents' house this week.

Keep Her Head Down

Not another surgery! Yes, but there is so much to be thankful for. My mom was able to get right in to see a doctor, get a referral, and have surgery to repair a detached retina the next day.

She was worried about how the IV would go, after many previous failed attempts over the years. But she said it was the "best IV ever." Now to "keep her head down" for 24 hours. And rest and recuperate.

Memory Lane

Sometime we should take a trip down memory lane. Drive around to the all places we used to live. Including the temporary house-sitting gigs. Take pictures. Here, and Portland, Oregon. I would also like to make it back to Taiwan. Show my son where he was born.

One Family Photo

When I think about our kids and our dog, I think of one photo. I found it today. Our youngest was in kindergarten and had just learned to ride a bike. With one major wipeout and black eye to show for it. Our oldest was about to leave home for college. And we adopted a sweet golden retriever, who was very red then. Ten years and many family memories ago.

I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. Psalm 77:11 ESV

Mature in Christ

I'm glad our pastor is feeling better. He was able to preach with energy and passion on Sunday. Great sermon on the last two verses in Colossians 1.

Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me. Colossians 1:28-29 ESV
