Bible Note Love

I love finding old notes in my Bible. From my daughters.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105 ESV

Mother-Daughter Team

My daughter and I teamed up. Helped with the little ones at church today. We got a workout! No pictures but I wish I could have captured some of the cuteness!

New Truck Love

The day my husband's truck went kaput, I stopped by my friend's house to drop something off. She and her husband just happened to have a truck for sale. They hadn't listed it yet. Did we mind driving a stick shift? It is a beautiful truck with low miles for the year. With two jump seats. Works for us!

That was a quick answer to prayer.

do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6 ESV

Good Old Red

I missed the official National Dog Day party. But it's never too late to post a good photo of our beloved golden retriever, who is getting up there. He is about 11 in human years. When we adopted him, our youngest was in kindergarten and our oldest was heading to college.

Still Sweet and Going Strong

That was a fun wedding. I love how organized my sister was. And you know there was good food involved. I always think of them when I hear what became their theme song. "How Sweet it is to be Loved by You."

Happy 27th anniversary to my sister and brother-in-law!

Wide Spot

I am thankful for a wide spot on the road. Where my husband could park his malfunctioning truck the other morning. I was able to come take him to work. And deal with the truck later.

Blessed Legacy

There are many years of marriage represented here. My in-laws just celebrated 56 years in July. And today my parents celebrate their 53rd anniversary. That is a blessed legacy!

Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad! Thanks for showing us how to stay in it for the long haul. Thick and thin. Richer or for poorer. In health and in sickness. Love you!

Memory Bridge

That was a trip down memory lane, or bridge, in this case. My husband's family camped and fished at the Metolius River before I came on the scene. And after. I'm glad we made time to detour through Sisters and Camp Sherman.

As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear him. Psalm 103:13 ESV

Birthday Beach Love

In honor of my older daughter's birthday, we went to Cannon Beach yesterday. Two and one-half hours' drive one-way. It was beautiful except for the smoke-filled air. I took a nap on the beach while they explored. It was a great day!

Mightier than the thunders of many waters, mightier than the waves of the sea, the LORD on high is mighty! Psalm 93:4 ESV

Canyon Outside

Since it wasn't a day trip to the wedding, we might as well find a place to stay overnight. Try out airbnb. The house was perfect. Comfortable and clean, with linens and towels, and a few food staples. With a canyon right outside the back door!

Our Two Sons

What happened to those boys being told to take it outside?Eating milk and cereal and all the leftovers? Doing school projects on the kitchen counter? They grew up! Great to have our sons together for the family wedding last weekend!

Much Loved

Our tiny baby girl grew up to be a beautiful young woman. And beloved little sister, doting big sister, loyal friend, and hard worker. Not to mention, cherished daughter and good friend!

Happy 24th Birthday to our older daughter!

Sightsee Along the Way

I'm glad we had cell phone coverage and were in communication. So our caravan could sightsee along the way. We stopped to see Multnomah Falls, just outside Portland. Too bad we didn't have time to hike up the falls.

Passing Through

It would be a shame to be pass through my sister's neighborhood and not see her. On our road trip to central Oregon. Good thing she got my text before her cell phone died. So she could surprise us while we were eating lunch.

Drummer Boy Gets Married

One day the cousins are on a blanket being fed crackers so they will sit still for a photo. Then they run around outside. Swim in your pool filled with water balloons. They all grow up to be fine young men and women. And the drummer boy cousin marries his best friend. In a beautiful outdoor wedding in Redmond, Oregon.

Pictured: Our nephew's wedding this weekend.

No one abuses his own body, does he? No, he feeds and pampers it. That’s how Christ treats us, the church, since we are part of his body. And this is why a man leaves father and mother and cherishes his wife. No longer two, they become “one flesh.” This is a huge mystery, and I don’t pretend to understand it all. What is clearest to me is the way Christ treats the church. And this provides a good picture of how each husband is to treat his wife, loving himself in loving her, and how each wife is to honor her husband. Ephesians 5:29-33 The Message

Pay to Park

I don't always pay to park. I usually pick up airport arrivals at the curb. But I learned my lesson from when my daughters returned from Washington DC. Other parents had banners and balloons, At the gate. So I paid and went in the airport to meet my son. I even sprang for a cart for his suitcases and carryon.

Love in the Cards

As I am reorganizing my files and digging through layers of paperwork, I am finding many cards and notes from my mother-in-law. Spanning the almost 30 years I've been married to her son. But when I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in early 1995, my mother-in-law sent a card AND my father-in-law wrote a personal letter. Still warms my heart. Twenty years later.

Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Romans 12:15 ESV

Checks for Everything

Remember when we used to write checks for everything? I am going through old papers and checks. Shredding as I go. There are checks written to stores that are not in my town anymore. Stock Market, Super Valu, or Sprouse Reitz, anyone? And I think we had pizza regularly when the kids were growing up.

Bye Bye Baby Days

I miss the baby days. Still can't believe my baby is almost 15! I have enjoyed each stage and phase. Except maybe the sleep battles. But you get through it, and they grow up. So do you.

Lots of Memories

I am happy to meet new people. Make new friends. But there is something special about the people you have known long enough to have made memories. Lots of memories. It was good to connect with a dear friend yesterday. We should do that more often!

Do not forsake your friend and your father's friend, and do not go to your brother's house in the day of your calamity. Better is a neighbor who is near than a brother who is far away. Proverbs 27:10 ESV

Still Processing

I love my food processor. I use it for veggies for soup, salsa, hummus, Deep Dish Cookie Pie, and occasionally cheesecake. So it was upsetting when I dropped the lid and cracked it. I can still use it, but only if I cover the back with my hand.

My friend saved out a food processor at a rummage sale she was helping with. It is not as big, but it is powerful. And just fits a batch of my garbanzo bean cookie pie.

Deep Dish Cookie Pie

If you don't tell, they won't guess what is in this Deep Dish Cookie Pie. It tastes like a gooey chocolate chip cookie. But the key ingredient is two cans of garbanzo beans. You can taste the beans in the raw batter, but not so much in the baked product. Seriously. But if you like raw batter, help yourself. There are no eggs. Or flour if you care about gluten. But you will need a food processor to pull this off.

She is like the ships of the merchant; she brings her food from afar. Proverbs 31:14 ESV

Keep Yourselves in the Love of God

It's great that our pastor can be out of the pulpit. And we still get solid Bible preaching! Today's sermon in Jude was brought to you by volunteer pastor Rich Downen. With the bonus of having Pastor Seth Winterhalter back leading music.

keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. Jude 1:21 ESV

Just Add Kale

I love it when one meal stretches to two. Like the roasted veggies with Angus beef patties for dinner. The leftover red peppers, mushrooms, zucchini, and red potatoes made a lovely frittata the next day. With added kale. Works for me!

Sermons in Jude

You don't hear sermons about the book of Jude very often. I have appreciated this current series at Harbor Church. Our pastors are not afraid to tackle difficult passages of Scripture. Two down, two to go. You can listen online.

For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. Jude 1:4 ESV

Scrambling for Dinner Inspiration

I'm glad we don't eat eggs every morning. Even though we have a steady supply from our four chickens. Because we had a yummy omelet for dinner. Works for us!

Cook with Love

That's what I call cooking with love. Turning on the oven and heating up the house. Plus I used fresh herbs from the herb garden my husband planted for me.

Tender Memories

I am still glowing from yesterday's wedding. Not just from the minor sunburn. It was sweet to see my cousin tear up when his beautiful bride walked down the aisle. And it meant a lot to know my Gramma (his Gramma too!) was there on his special day. Tender memories.

Outdoor Family Wedding

What a happy day to see my cousin get married! All families on my mom's side were represented. My mom's brother and wife were able to drive my Gramma down for the occasion. My sister and I were there, with our families. One cousin drove from California.

It was one of the hottest weddings I have attended in a while, but glad we could be there!
