First Conference

My husband worked his first home school conference. As a new employee for The Timberdoodle Co. I'm thankful he has a new job with people he likes. The conference was in Redmond, Washington so he was able to come home at night.

Go-To Muffins

I am trying a new recipe every Monday. But for today's prayer time at my daughter's Christian school, I reverted to an old muffin recipe from Better Homes and Gardens. For years these were my go-to muffins to have with tea. But I don't think I ever made the streusel topping before.

Let my prayer be counted as incense before you, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice! Psalm 141:2 ESV

I am Loved

I am one sermon behind. I missed last week's message on Ephesians 5:22-33. Good thing I can watch it online or read the transcript. Gender, marriage, and sexuality according to God's love.

This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband. Ephesians 5:32-33 ESV

Travel Mercies

I pray for travel mercies. For road trips, my children's journeys, and loads to the dump. Today I helped a friend move and made two trips to the local transfer station. I am thankful for secure loads all the way. Plus the bonus of a friend who was there at the same time and helped me unload the truck.

For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11 ESV

As Good as I Remember

I never know what I will find at our bargain grocery store. I found a package of imported Digestive Wheat Biscuits, just like we used to buy in Taiwan. They are like graham cracker cookies. Great with tea. And just as good as I remember them.

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. 1 Timothy 6:17 ESV

Meet for Lunch

We were all in Olympia at the same time. Might as well meet for lunch at Bagel Brothers. Works for us!

Lean In

We didn't know if we could get all of us in one photo. Or how the bright sunlight would affect quality. No worries. My younger daughter used the car as a tripod. Lean in, everyone!

Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. 1 Peter 3:8 ESV

Perfect Day

I'm so glad it didn't rain on us. I forgot my rain coat. But I did pack boots. Which came in handy for walking through the fields.

We paid $5 for entrance to the garden and fields but parking was free. Mark your calendar for next April!

Tulip Love

Some things have to be experienced in person. There is no way to adequately describe the sea of colors at the tulip fields.

Even better, make it a road trip and see your son and his girlfriend. We had a great weekend in Bellingham.

Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Luke 12:27 ESV

What's To Come

I am excited about what's to come. The apple trees on our property are full of blossoms.

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. 1 Timothy 6:17 ESV

Just Because

My friends and family will not be aging this year. Until I find my calendar in our new home. Instead of celebrating birthdays, I will send out cards and notes when someone comes to mind. Just because. I can do that.

I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, Philippians 1:3 ESV

Happy Birthday Young Man!

What happens when your birthday falls on community group night? We sing Happy Birthday and have cake and ice cream! That's what we did for a young man who turned 12 today.

Rumor Control

I have been getting some weird phone calls. They are following up my request for car insurance quotes on my Jaguar. Just to be clear, I don't own any fancy sports cars. I am not shopping for new insurance. And to squelch any other rumors, if you see me shopping for maternity clothes, they are for my friend.

Buy truth, and do not sell it; buy wisdom, instruction, and understanding. Proverbs 23:23 ESV

Valley of Vision Prayer

I found a prayer to read at my women's Bible study this morning. Went with the lesson on forgiveness and what Jesus has done for us.

Here is a selection from Reconciliation in The Valley of Vision:

Thou hast taught me the necessity of a Mediator,
   a Messiah,
to be embraced in love with all my heart,
     as king to rule me,
     as prophet to guide me,
as priest to take away my sin and death,
and this by faith in thy beloved Son
     who teaches me
   not to guide myself,
   not to obey myself,
not to try to rule and conquer sin,
but to cleave to the one who will do all for me.
Thou hast made known to me
that to save me is Christ’s work,
but to cleave to him by faith is my work,
and with this faith is the necessity of my
     daily repentance
as a mourning for the sin which Christ
     by grace has removed.

to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:22-24 ESV

On Our Side of Town

She hasn't even unpacked all her bags yet. But my mother-in-law already helped me run an errand today.

So nice to have the snow birds home! And even better, our new home is just a couple minutes from them!

I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, Ephesians 1:16 ESV

Prayer and Muffins

I am hoping to recruit more parents for the Monday morning prayer time. I baked some chocolate oatmeal muffins tonight and will put on a pot of coffee. Join me at Mason County Christian School at 8:05 am! You don't have to pray out loud or stay very long. Feel free to email me your prayer requests.

Friday Night Hospitality

My friend definitely has the gift of hospitality. She invited us over for dinner last night. What a relaxing way to spend a Friday night! Dinner and hanging out. Works for me!

Adventure for Sale

I flipped through the pages and felt young again. The book for sale at the garage sale took me back to my childhood. I used to read British author, Enid Blyton's books by the dozen! I will read it and pass it on. Maybe to my sister.

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. 1 Timothy 6:17 ESV

I am Forgiven

If you have been sinned against, you have two choices. You can become bitter or choose to forgive. What is forgiveness, anyway? How do you forgive? Mark Driscoll's sermon last week was powerful. And hit home. Listen or read the transcript online:

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:31-32 ESV

Tutor in the House

My youngest started a new career. She is tutoring a little first-grade friend in reading. She did a great job today.

Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. 1 Timothy
4:12 ESV

Not Too Late

It's not too late to join in. Any local women are welcome to join me at Bible Study Fellowship in Olympia on Wednesday morning at 9:20 am. Tomorrow we will be learning about God's plan for Joseph.

But the LORD was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. Genesis 39:21 ESV

Turn to Serve

Is it my turn to serve again? It seems like my week at the Connect Desk at church comes around quickly. But I am always glad for the opportunity to meet new people at church and serve side by side with others at Mars Hill Church in Olympia.

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17 ESV

Baby Stepping

It's all about the baby steps. Who can guess what class we are taking? Financial Peace by Dave Ramsey. We are working on baby step number one: funding an emergency fund. Then we can start snowballing our debts. Little by little.

Pictured: The two of us on our hike last weekend.

Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me, lest I be full and deny you and say, "Who is the LORD?" or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God. Proverbs 30:8-9 ESV

The Big Brother

I can't believe I didn't notice the tee shirt. And the important message. All through dinner and Bible study. Our little friend is going to be a big brother! Our community group is going to have another baby!

Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Psalm 127:3 ESV

Time with Daughter

What is one of the best perks of spring break? Besides the open schedule? Spending time with my youngest!

Monday's Reading

I enjoy my weekly visits with my friend in the assisted living home. I am blessed to read scripture aloud to her.

But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all your works. Psalm 73:28 ESV
