One Good Thing After Another
We packed it in. Worship. Children's ministry for my husband. Times two services. A birthday party in the park with community group friends. Capped off with a great family dinner. With grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, and in-laws. My parents know how to open their home. With love.

Happy Birthday to our older daughter!

Right Where We Left Off
I met my friend for coffee at our old hang-out. Back in the day the kids played and we drank coffee. Ate hamburgers and finished the kids' fries. Now she had a grandson who climbs the play structure. We drank fancy coffee: latte and mocha. And we chatted and picked up right where we left off.

Dog Day
I love this cell phone picture of our daughter and our dog. We are enjoying our last days of summer.

Sleepless Saturday
So much for trying to get a good night's sleep on a Saturday night. There must have been a party down the street. All the yelling got the dogs in the neighborhood going. The rest of my family slept through it. So I took the opportunity to pray. Might as well redeem the time.
And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, Colossians 1:9 ESV

Bird Bath Love
Until yesterday. I saw one at a garage sale. This one even hooks up to a hose and sprays water. A bargain at $25. My husband loves it.

Use in Savory or Sweet Dishes
Somewhere along the way I started baking with ground coriander. This is the seed, not to be confused with the plant cilantro. I like it in my apple crisp, apple pie, banana bread, etc. I'm not big on curry so I haven't done much there.
When I saw a big container for sale at a discount grocery store I couldn't resist. Ten dollars for 80 ounces! Local friends can let me know if they need any!

Beef up the Veggies
The inspiration started with one salmon kebab. Marked down at the grocery store. Add some beef, red and yellow peppers, mushrooms, and yellow squash. No need to soak the skewers. They won't burn in the George Foreman electric grill. That's the way to "beef up our veggies."
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV

Amish Nanny Love
If you like books with an Amish theme, you'll love my friend's latest book. I just finished The Amish Nanny. It picks up where The Amish Midwife left off. But don't worry, each book stands alone.

Got Worries?
What is the opposite of prayer? I like how Tim Challies, the pastor and blogger, describes worry. He poses an interesting question about the Old Testament character Naomi. Why didn't she go out to glean with Ruth? Was she at home paralyzed with worry?

Little Neighbors
I met our new neighbor last night. You don't get much newer than that. I even got to hold the little five-day-old baby. In a couple weeks, my friend across the street will have her baby too. Welcome little ones!

Keep Trusting
Where's my trust? In sunny weather so my husband can paint? No. Even though I am thankful for the good painting weather. My trust is in God. Who can and will provide what we need when we need it.
"Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit." Jeremiah 17:7-8 ESV
