Today I heard click click click for the last time. As I prayed for the old green truck to start. It faithfully hauled dirt, rocks, mushroom compost, bark, lumber, hardwood flooring, furniture, ladders, paint equipment, appliances (how many refrigerators?), and more. For us, our neighbors, and relatives.
There were countless trips to the dump. For us and others. Depending on the season, Christmas trees, kayaks, lawn mowers, camping equipment, and bicycles. Moved our son to college and back.
There were bags of insulation. Empty 55-gallon drums for my brother-in-law. Tables and chairs for our open houses. And how many times have we transported our barbecue to events?
It did not, however, take my son to a scholarship interview. Or get me home from voting a couple years ago. Bless our friend for fixing the headlights so my husband didn't have to beat the dark home. Good memories. My husband jump-started it and drove it away for the last time.
