Voices from the Past

I am impressed with the eloquence. Clear focus on what matters. The Puritans wrote some good stuff in the 1600s. I love my husband's new devotional, Voices from the Past, edited by Richard Rushing. Today's reading was from Ezekiel Hopkins, who died in 1690.

I love today's word picture about prayer:
Our prayers and God's mercy are like two buckets in a well. One ascends, and one descends. Our prayers ascend to God in heaven, and his mercies and blessings descend upon us.

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Romans 12:12 ESV
